The works are the latest phase of the new office development, St James’ Place on Barrack Street, Norwich, which is destined to become a new business quarter in the city.
Staff at Drayton have already constructed two office
blocks on the 17-acre site, for developer Jarrold & Sons. One is
now occupied by the Broads Authority, Natural England and the
Environmental Agency; the other by firms of solicitors and accountants.
Drayton’s latest project situated adjacent to Norwich’s
Puppet Theatre, is a three-storey building, in a complementary style,
part of which is to be occupied by the regional commercial headquarters
of Barclays Bank.
"The 31,000 square-foot development will incorporate
a number of environmental features, with the aim of achieving a BREEAM
very good rating after a year of construction."
