The R G Carter Group seeks to recruit trainee professionals who want to pursue a career in the construction industry.
We have partnered with the West Suffolk College to deliver a programme of studies, enabling technicians to gain a foundation degree.
We encourage trainee technicians to progress onto an honours degree programme with the aim of allowing them to gain corporate membership to a professional institute such as the CIOB or RICS.
We help guide and develop the careers of all our trainees and apprentices. Each trainee is given a personal development plan and an experienced mentor who will ensure the trainees technical knowledge and personal skills are developing in the right way.
The Academy pays particular attention to investing in the company’s future, by developing craft apprentices to their full potential. An internal annual skills test is conducted to assess competencies and to ensure that apprentices are progressing as planned.
Traditionally, apprentice training takes three years, but an intensive programme often sees apprentices achieving exceptionally high standards in just two years. Apprentices complete a wide variety of additional training, not offered by other colleges within their normal training period.
The City and Guilds external verifier reported “the centre is visionary in developing its staff, through apprentices to director level, and support this development very tangibly. Communication and numeracy development is shown as vital to this personal development to allow for the necessary skills within the construction industry”.
