CRAFT TRAINING

R G Carter proudly boasts that it employs approximately 63 apprentices, more than any other company in the construction industry. The Carter Academy is a dedicated in house training facility, set up for the group and is fully accredited to National standards. Its lecturing staff and assessors are experienced craftspeople and the tutors we employ are more than qualified to cover and deliver all the required course skills.

The Academy pays particular attention to investing in the company's future, by developing craft apprentices to their full potential. An additional internal annual skills test is conducted to assess competencies and to ensure that apprentices are progressing as planned. Traditionally, apprentice training takes three years, but an intensive programme often sees apprentices achieving exceptionally high standards in just two years. Apprentices complete a wide variety of additional training, not offered by other colleges within their normal training period.

The City and Guilds External Verifier reported "the centre is visionary in developing it's staff development through apprentices to director level and support this development very tangibly. Communication and numeracy development is shown as vital to this personal development to allow for the necessary skills within the construction industry".

R G Carter want to recruit apprentices in bricklaying, carpentry, joinery, plastering, plumbing and painting and decorating.  Please call the Academy on 01603 869654 to obtain an application pack.  Closing date is 30th April 2009.
