R G Carter Drayton is currently home to a band of gorilla statues whilst they wait to be distributed around Norwich city centre as part of the GoGoGorillas campaign in aid of local charity Break and animal charity Born Free Foundation.
There are 50 gorilla sculptures in total, some of which are still available for sponsorship to be decorated by local artists, community groups and school children. Fourteen of the gorillas have already arrived at Drayton and R G Carter has sponsored a gorilla that is to be painted to resemble a construction worker.
By summer 2013, the gorillas will have been placed throughout Norwich and will remain there for ten weeks. The organisers of GoGoGorillas have created a trail which will launch on 24 June and will take visitors and residents on a tour around the city passing each of the uniquely decorated gorilla sculptures.
At the end of the ten-week period, the gorillas will be auctioned off with 75% of the proceeds going to Break and Born Free.
