The 16th century Seckford Hall is a four-star family-owned hotel in the Suffolk town of Woodbridge. The hotel is currently undergoing redevelopment and refurbishment works, as carried out by a team from R G Carter.
Conversion works to the building’s East Wing, formerly the owners’ private residence, into the hotel’s conference room and executive boardroom. As well as demolition and structural work, the team also restored the wing’s original hand-carved oak doors. Bedrooms in the East Wing were also stripped out and refurbished to include bespoke headboards and wardrobes as well as en suite bathrooms with monsoon showers.
Whilst remodelling the restaurant, R G Carter had to stick to an incredibly tight timescale of just eight days to ensure that weddings and corporate events were not affected by the works. As the building is Grade II listed, the team worked sensitively around the building’s historic features, including oak panelling in the restaurant that was carefully protected during the works.
