Recently, the Princess Royal visited the Animal Health Trust site in Kentford, Suffolk to officially open the veterinary charity’s new cancer treatment and research facility.
Representatives from R G Carter attended the opening ceremony, during which the Princess Royal, who is also president of the Animal Health Trust, took a guided tour around the centre.
More than 2,600 tonnes of concrete were used to construct two-metre thick walls surrounding the Kennel Club Cancer Centre in order to safely contain radiation from the linear accelerator. Dog kennels and runs were also built as part of the project.
The new treatment facility, believed to be the first of its kind in Europe, will be used to treat cats, dogs and horses with cancer.
