The spotlight is shining on R G Carter’s Jarrold Bridge project, as it receives a commendation in the Structural Steel Design Awards and has been shortlisted by the British Construction Industry Awards (BCIA).
Craned into place over just two days in November 2011, Jarrold Bridge is approximately 80 metres in length and follows a ‘J’ shape across the River Wensum in Norfolk, offering walkers and cyclists easy access to and from Norwich city centre.
Judges at the Structural Steel Design Awards 2012 praised the integration that R G Carter had been achieved between the bridge and its surroundings, observing that the bridge ‘gives an impression of already being well established in its settings.’
Jarrold Bridge is nominated for the Civil Engineering Project of the Year award at the BCIA 2012 and a team from R G Carter, along with the other finalists, will undergo Dragon’s Den-style interviews with industry experts.
The winners will be announced on 10 October 2012.
