Sheringham Store Wins Global BIM Award

The new Tesco store in Sheringham has won in the Engineering Category at the Tekla Global BIM Awards 2013.

The project, a new Format 15 retail store which was geometrically complex, was completed in October last year and boasts a bespoke design featuring an aesthetic timber roof structure.

Utilising BIM allowed the design team to combine the architect’s, mechanical engineer’s and specialist contractors, such as structural steel, timber and reinforced concrete models, providing a greater understanding of the relationships between disciplines, preventing co-ordination issues during the construction phase.

The final design allowed the client to visualise the complete shopping experience, with virtual walkthroughs creating an alive and real project.
