Social & Environmental Analyst

Cambridge - Permanent - Monday - Friday


We are currently looking for Social & Environmental Analyst to complement and support our strong pre-construction team. The role will be based in our Cambridge office, covering the working area of that office of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, down to North London. There will be an opportunity to work partly from the office or from home, or from one of our other offices (location permitting). For this role you will need to be focused, self motivated and able to work both independently and within our team of like minded individuals. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, and you will need to hold a clean driving license as some travelling between offices may be required. The successful candidate needs to be efficient and resourceful, with an invaluable set of interpersonal and problem solving skills and the flexibility to adapt to fast paced, ever- changing environments. The role will ideally suit an administrator or coordinator with a keen interest in social economic and environmental impacts within the construction industry. You do not necessarily need to come from a main contractor background as further training will be given, however experience in environmental and sustainable reporting would be advantageous. Key Responsibilities

  • Producing proprietary ESG company level research with emphasis on data collection and reporting current levels of performance against key targets.
  • Leveraging internal and external tools to produce research.
  • Producing sector level ESG analysis on specific areas of interest across the construction industry and making comparisons against key data points
  • Monitoring company activities on an on-going basis and keeping abreast of event risks
  • Engaging in dialogue with other internal companies on specific ESG related agenda items
  • Engaging with companies both at senior management levels to establish company goals and priorities
  • Looking at current and proposed issues, legislation and key market issues and making senior teams aware of company obligations and requirements.
  • Collaborating with other social and environmental interested groups over networks and forums to gather and analyse data.
  • Effective internal dialogue with senior teams on ESG company and sector research as well as Group level view of ESG performance
  • Training on tools and systems on ESG and inputting to overall team effort on ESG research
  • Contributing to special projects and other team activities

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Computer skills – need to be proficient on Microsoft Office packages (preferably with experience of the 2010 suite – Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • A good, clear telephone manner is essential as there will be client/consultant interface during the course of the daily works, including Teams meetings.
  • A good ‘team player’, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Inquisitive mind with a strong passion for sustainability and ESG issues.
  • Some years of experience in a sustainability/environmental related field, including experience of delivering sustainability assurance engagements for large clients
  • An ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally
  • Ability to produce detailed and coherent written reports
  • Demonstrated interest in ESG issues
