The Business Aviation Centre for Klyne Aviation
The Business Aviation Centre for Klyne Aviation comprises a three storey administration and private passenger handling building, located between the two hangars. This first class development was designed specifically to meet the needs of the growing business and general aviation industry and is also ideally suited to support new and existing offshore ventures.
Construction of 2 no. 45 x 40 m high bay hangars with facilities for both fixed wing and helicopter accommodation. Office administration facilities on three floors approximately 750 sq.m per floor. Extensive apron and taxiway facilities constructed to strict CAA standards.
Facilities at this Business Aviation Centre include:
- Free secure parking,
- VIP drop off zone,
- Ground floor reception area
- VIP passenger lounges,
- High speed wireless internet connection
- Baggage handling facilities
- Flight planning and weather services
- Crew rest Lounges
- Business suites and executive boardrooms
The project enables the processing of both the fixed wing and helicopter passengers. These operations occupy the ground floor of the proposed BAC. Administration staff will also relocate into the first floor of the BAC to house its crew, flight planning, executive and support staff and aircrew training rooms. The enabling works of this project saw the Drayton team, lead on site by Jim Tyson (Senior Site Manager), construct a new taxi way for aircraft.
This has enabled air traffic to be re-diverted around the proposed site for the hangars and offices. The air-entrained concrete to the taxi way needed to be of the highest quality. Works have been overseen by our in-house Clerk of Works from Carter Design Group.
The project was delivered within budget due to timely procurement in order to consider all value engineering – e.g. substantial savings were made on the steel frame subcontracted and the design was more cost effective than initially quoted for.
