In Heckmondwike, south west of Leeds, we are delivering a new single storey Bus Hub for Kirklees Council, upgrading the original provision on the same site and delivering infrastructure improvements and improvements to increase capacity. See the vision here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAqfW-SVxCg
The Hub will provide improved, covered waiting facilities for bus users, creating capacity for six buses and one new layover bay, with automatic doors to the bus bays to improve safety. This green roofed Hub will also house office space and driver facilities such as a canteen. Cycle parking will help facilitate multi-modal interchange and the building.
Its elliptical steel structure has been a challenging construction for the team due to its small scale and tight radius but with stunning results. View progress and the canopy being erected in the drone footage by Kirklees Council: https://vimeo.com/1098761455/84429bc9f5
The project is procured under the YORBuild3 Medium Works Framework and designed by Stephen George LLP https://www.stephengeorge.co.uk/hold-very-tight-please-ting-ting-council-on-board-with-sgp-plans-for-new-heckmondwike-bus-station/
