Ideas don’t always come from the obvious place! A great example of this happened at the new General Practitioners Surgery in Sheffield, where a member of the SHE team added value during the early site set-up phase.

Drawing on 25+ years as a Sapper in the Corps of Royal Engineers with a well‑known love of bridges – our Regional SHE Advisor Steven Jones Tech IOSH GCGI came up with a practical and creative fix to our accommodation set up on a complex and sloped site.

Placing the cabins on the hard standing and bridging across to the top of the new seven‑metre gabion wall, our team could create safer access/egress, reduced pedestrian‑vehicle interface points, freeing up valuable space on the site footprint.

A practical, creative fix – and a brilliant example of collaborative working – one of our core company values.
