Over 35 tonnes of temporary works steel recently arrived at the new Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre, (DARTeC), enabling the temporary structure to be built for its unique canopy, due to arrive early next month.

The canopy at this innovative new facility for Cranfield University, will sit adjacent to the main building and form a ‘hangar laboratory’ that will house a Boeing 737 aircraft, enabling the next generation of engineers to experiment with maintenance and repairs.

Hot, heavy work in this recent blue sky warm weather, the temporary steel structure is now in place, along with six columns and five of the 10m long sections, which weigh over 6 tonnes a piece!
