Described as a ‘powerhouse of environmental technologies’ at its opening in 2008, EPIC, the exhibition and conference centre at Lincolnshire Showground spanned 5,000 m2 and was developed for low carbon efficiency. 15 years later it is still one of the greenest conference centres in the UK.
Designed by our in-house design team with a focus on
sustainable materials, it was packed with eco-friendly features; sun tubes to increase natural light, biomass and biofuel boilers, solar water heating and rain harvesting. Provision was also made for pv units to offset the demand for electricity, aided by two wind turbines.
Its 1,882sqm sedum roof helped provide natural insulation and remove carbon from the atmosphere and formed part of the striking aesthetics of this facility.
