We are delighted to announce that Building 84, the pre-WII Hangar at Cranfield University has been crowned the winner of Most Innovative Restoration / Refurbishment Project, at the Building Innovation Awards.

R G Carter and CDG (our inhouse design team) were delighted to receive this award, having been short-listed against three other prestigious projects across the UK, including the restoration of Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben).

This award recognises the unique, sustainable design solution CDG developed, installing a ‘box within a box’ which reduces the hangar’s carbon footprint providing greater energy efficiency whilst preserving its heritage.

Congratulations to everyone involved. A wonderful example of how to marry environmental excellence with historic restoration.
