Bowthorpe Care Village

Bowthorpe Care Village is the first facility of its kind within the city of Norwich. The Care Village replaces four council care homes built in the 1970’s in Norwich, which are closing and the residents transferring to the new development.

The site provides 92 desirable Housing with Care apartments which will be managed by Saffron Housing, a further 80 Dementia Care apartments for NorseCare, and a Village Communal Hub. The Communal Hub provides residents with a restaurant, cafe, shop, hairdressers, beauty salon and a well‑being centre along with support spaces and office accommodation.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with its surroundings, the new specialist accommodation provides residents with stunning views of Bunkers Wood and the Yare Valley. The design aims to provide an attractive, supportive environment in which older people can support each other and live independently. For example, in dementia care areas memory boxes have been fixed next to people’s doors, containing personal items to help them remember which flats are theirs.
