Canary Quay Development, Norwich

Canary Quay is a four-phased, light gauge steel frame development of 323 high specification riverside apartments for Broadland Housing Association on the River Wensum near the centre of Norwich. It is one of the largest LGSF developments in the East of England.

Phases 1-3 comprise 222 one and two-bedroom apartments which were completed in May 2021. The remaining 101 apartments of Phase 4 completed in January 2023.

Phases 1 and 3 are being offered as social housing and Phase 2 is a combination of Broadland Housing tenants and private ownership. The Phase 4 apartments are all for private sale.

R G Carter were chosen as the contractor for this project because of their experience of and expertise in high-rise developments and an exemplary record of client collaboration, project deliverables and reliability.

We were proud to host the CIOB on a visit to the development in March 2022. They were interested in viewing a leading UK LGSF development to understand more about the logistical and environmental benefits of LGSF construction.

The spacious apartments all have balconies, river, garden or city views and are fitted with hi-spec bathrooms and kitchens. There is a critical need for housing in Norwich and Canary Quay will help to address the problem by providing high quality dwellings in an attractive and convenient location for those who need them most.
