Jack Hunt School

R G Carter were appointed under Peterborough City Council’s framework to complete the extension works at Jack Hunt School following the collapse of the previous contractor Carillion.

The work has seen a two storey extension created including 11 new classrooms, a science classroom, a dining hall and kitchen, alongside an all-weather sports pitch. The expansion has enabled the school’s capacity to increase from 1,800 to 1,950 pupils.

The new block also features Kingspan cladding and a flat roof containing photovoltaic panels.

Whilst undertaking the works our project team supported the school’s ‘Takeover Day’, by welcoming one of the students onto site, to experience work within the construction industry.

“The completion of the long awaited new block, AWP and Science Laboratory has been such a joy and a relief. The new facilities are absolutely wonderful and will make such a difference for the staff and students of our school… I wanted to thank you both on behalf of the Governors, staff and students of Jack Hunt School for completing this project for us. It is much appreciated by all, and particularly by me.” Pamela Kilbey, Headteacher of Jack Hunt School
