LYTHAM ROAD WASTE TRANSFER RECYCLING FACILITY

R G Carter have been working collaboratively with Suffolk County Council and Concertus Design and Property Consultants to construct the new Lytham Road Waste Transfer Station. The scheme comprised a new build Waste Transfer Station with a capacity of circa 72,200 tpa, anancillary development including weighbridges and staff facilities, a new site access road, parking and a drainage and water management system.

The project, which will allow waste to be transported to the Energy from Waste Facility with recycling materials transported to reprocessing facilities, completed on time and to budget.

This facility will allow this process to take place more efficiently on fewer larger vehicles and provides much needed waste management services to the local Council.

Works have included:

  • Provision of a new waste transfer station.
  • Provision of a new service yard and car parking.
  • Provision of a weighbridge office and access routes.
  • Provision of new access and service road of Lytham road.
  • Provision of new landscaping including gates and fences.

The main structure was of steel frame construction with external Luna Wood Cladding that is in-keeping with the local landscape and internal cladding. There have been extensive external works to support the requirements of this facility, including establishing the main yard, the access road and the associated groundworks for the main facility. A modular office has also been installed with office, W/C and security systems.
