Nar Ouse – Regeneration Area Enterprise Zone – Phase 1

The new Nar Ouse Enterprise Zone is planned to provide 15 hectares of office, industrial and research space for local businesses. It is one of the largest brownfield regeneration projects ever handled in West Norfolk and is conveniently located adjacent to the A47 in King’s Lynn.

R G Carter were pleased to have started work on the first two buildings for the Borough Council of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk. Construction works began on phase 1 buildings with speculative office space and light industrial and research space.

  • Plot A1 – a two storey unit for office space, to include 38 car parking spaces.
  • Plot A2 – a two storey office space with double height warehouse units, including car parking spaces for 69 cars.

The project has faced a number of challenges around the conditions on this regenerated land, but with help and advice from our sister companies, GTS & Carter Design Group this was rectified seamlessly by applying a reinforced granular mattress beneath all pavement areas which will help to mitigate the risk of differential settlement occurring across those areas.

The buildings are supported on piled foundations, the reinforced pavement construction is designed to mitigate differential settlement and we have incorporated hinge slabs that should maintain compliant access gradients.
