Next – Longwater

This Next Home and Garden Store is situated on the outskirts of Norwich, near Longwater Retail Park. The new concept store which was completed six weeks ahead of schedule has since been replicated by Next elsewhere in the country. The new Store represents the next-generation of retail, providing the shopper with everything they need under one roof. The 6,663m2 new concept store includes a Costa Coffee, a lighting department, lingerie boutique, shoes rooms and a rug shop in addition to Next’s core retail offer.

The structure of the building is steel frame and utilises a mezzanine floor. Carter Design were the project designers with design carried out in a BIM level 2 environment. The retail store building shell concept adopted a simple square configuration, with an adjoining rectangular conservatory structure and external enclosed Garden Centre Plantaria, which has been developed in full collaboration with the Next Retail Ltd fit-out design team.

R G Carter also carried out all associated external works, asbestos removal, car parking and landscaping. This included the construction of a new slip-road in order to ease congestion within the area surrounding Longwater. This new slip-road allows traffic turning left off William Frost Way to join up directly with traffic heading into Norwich on Dereham Road.
