Premier Inn Hotel Extension & Conversion – Eastbourne
The project at the Premier Inn Eastbourne was delivered in three key phases:
Phase 1 – Conversion of Bedrooms into Solas 1.5 Restaurant (6 weeks). The first phase involved converting four existing hotel bedrooms into a new Solas 1.5 restaurant within a live, fully operational hotel. Works included the removal of all internal walls between the bedrooms and the installation of new steel supports to create an open-plan space. The area was then reboarded, with all new mechanical and electrical services installed, followed by a full kitchen fit‑out and the installation of new fitted furniture and finishes.
Phase 2 – Demolition of Existing Public House (6 weeks).
The second phase required the demolition of the existing public house to clear the footprint for the new 37‑bedroom annex. As part of the demolition programme, all masonry and concrete materials were recycled and reused within the construction of the new annex, supporting sustainable development practices.
Phase 3 – Construction of New 37‑Bedroom Annex (31 weeks). The final phase involved constructing a new two-storey, 37‑bedroom annex using a traditional strip foundation and block-and-beam floor, with a timber frame structure clad in masonry. The building was completed to the standard Premier Inn internal specification, including both ID5 and ID5 Plus room types. Works also included a power upgrade to the main hotel and onsite service diversions.
All phases of the project were successfully carried out while the existing hotel remained fully operational and unaffected by the works.
