Saffron Walden Library

We have recently completed works at Saffron Walden Library, completing the external redecorations of this impressive Victorian building within a busy shopping street.

The external repairs included:

  • Complete external redecorations
  • Render repairs
  • Stone repairs to the existing pillars and also replacement of other stone work too damaged to be repairs

Due to the location of the library we kept in close contact with the staff and other local businesses to ensure we minimised disruption to them. We held monthly meetings for the local businesses to attend and also weekly updates with the market stall holders.

The jewellers next to the library requested that we do not put scaffolding up over their shop during the Christmas period.

Being sensitive to this, we left the scaffolding down around their shop until after the Christmas period.

We also provided banners for the shops that were affected by the scaffolding on the netting. The scaffolding was also alarmed to alert us to anyone accessing the scaffold without permission.

We also liaised closely with the local council with regards to footpath closure requirements for this project.
