The Jane Atkinson Health and Wellbeing Centre

The Jane Atkinson Health and Wellbeing Centre was constructed to act as a central hub for provision of health services to the local community, particularly mental health. The facility incorporates clinical / consultation space, treatment rooms, private staff accommodation, office space and storage over four floors with basement parking.

The building was designed to function as a welcoming facility for patients, as well as a purpose built, modern hub for NHS staff. A central atrium provides natural light to the central waiting area on the ground floor and throughout the office floors above.

The 4000m2 centre comprises a secant piled basement wall with capping beam, piled foundations, reinforced concrete frame, and facing brickwork. Works was carried out in close proximity to adjacent businesses and the hospital, which were live throughout. This significant facility for Waltham Forest was officially named in memory of NELFT’s former Chairman who has been described as a passionate mental health visionary by her colleagues.
