Representatives from R G Carter and our Carter Academy hosted a bridge building activity session at the University Technical College Norfolk in September. The aim being to encourage students to think about careers in the construction and engineering industry and to put their new knowledge to practice.

80 Year 10 students, began with a presentation on the history of bridge building, how you make them and what are the best types. They were then left to design and build their own, with materials provided by us.

At the end of the session, the team weighed and tested them ‘to destruction’. All of the students were very enthusiastic during the activity and one of them came up with a design never before seen!

These sessions are organised by Carter Academy, with the team already having visited Wymondham Academy and Attleborough Academy. They are always well received and the UTCN have asked us to return in the future.
