R G Carter took part in the Skill Build regional heat at Easton and Otley College on Tuesday 19 June 2018.

Our apprentices did us proud with Tom Pierce (pictured) and Cameron Tolouse-Lisle (from Cambridge) both coming 1st in carpentry and joinery respectively. They were in the ‘New Entrant’ category which means they are within their first year of training. Cameron was entered in joinery, as although he is a carpenter, his ability and skill lended him well to the category.

Amongst our apprentices was Lewis (from our Drayton office), also a ‘New Entrant’. He was tasked with building a Flemis-bonded wall, a tricky piece to build in a competition. Lewis coped well and said “I’ve enjoyed it; I can see where I have gone wrong. Now I can learn from this so I don’t make the same mistakes on site”.
