A time capsule buried at the council’s new headquarters at Alconbury Weald will give staff, councillors and the public in 2046, a glimpse into what life was like in 2021. The Chairman of Cambridgeshire County Council Cllr Mac McGuire marked this moment in time, accompanied by Chief Executive Gillian Beasley and representatives from R G Carter outside the new headquarters, where an engraved slab will mark the capsule’s position.
The time capsule was filled with postcards from council staff, councillors and local school children, describing life today during a pandemic and their hopes for Cambridgeshire in 25 years’ time.
