R G Carter are proud to hear that the University Arms Hotel has been voted by TIME Magazine as one of the world’s 100 greatest places of 2019. This is an amazing accolade to everyone involved in delivering such a unique project; the restoration and extension of this historic hotel, in Cambridge.
The project, which is a testament to high quality workmanship, includes 192 bedrooms, a library, bar, function rooms and restaurant.
Following a fire in 2014, which forced the hotel to close, the team at R G Carter worked with specialist subcontractors to bring the hotel back to its former glory.
Few projects have combined so many traditional skills including; use of natural stone and traditional lime mortar, copper roof along the front façade, boxed sash windows and natural Welsh slating for parts of the roofing.
