It has been announced that the University of Cambridge’s Alison Richard Building has been selected as one of the Civic Trust Awards’ 2013 winners.
R G Carter completed construction of the brand new humanities building at the beginning of 2012. Professor Willie Brown from the University of Cambridge said of the project: ‘In over forty years of working in universities, I have never known a building meet with such unalloyed approval.’
Established in 1959, the Civic Trust Awards gives recognition to projects that have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community. The award celebrates the very best in architecture, design, planning landscape and public art.
The ceremony will take place in March where it will be announced whether the humanities building will receive an award, commendation or community recognition. TV presenter George Clarke will host the event alongside Civic Trust Awards managing director, Malcolm Hankey.
