Tesco Store Acquisition, Halstead, Essex

This project was a property acquisition by Tesco on a previously owned
CO-OP supermarket. Works included full replacement of all refrigeration, shelving, checkouts and new customer service desk.

The works completed by R G Carter Projects team has included:

• New back of house chillers
• New click & collect area
• Installation of a new bake off bakery
• Installation of new Cleaners room and ground floor colleague room
• New clothing and clothing warehouse
• Several areas of demolition with new wall openings formed for the clothing and click & collect areas
• Installation of a new click & collect canopy
• Installed a new UKPN sub-station and laid 400mtrs of new high voltage mains cabling
• The store underwent full fire compartmentation protections and then the installation of a complete new ceiling
• New suite of fire doors installed throughout
• All new heating and ventilation including plant installations.
• Full resurfacing of the customer community car park and re-lined
• Fully redecorated ground floor and first floor.

The work was completed within the 12 week time line specified by Tesco. The store has been extremely well received by the local community and continues to trade along expectations.
