At Tesco Ely, the R G Carter team have spent the last 15 weeks, working on a refurbishment which gave the store a complete makeover, from the remodelling of the store entrance to the reconfiguration of departments.
Works included new fixtures and fascias, freezers and signage, across areas including frozen foods, chilled, health and beauty, and bakery. In the fruit and vegetable aisles, the team installed Tesco’s new two tier fruit and vegetable shelving to create a more open, market feel and also installed six new express checkouts.
A new initiative in the refurbished Ely store, capitalising on the Japanese trend, is a new Yo Sushi bar, which the team refurbished from the previous Rotisserie. On the first day the Sushi bar launched in the store, the new team offered samples to entice customers to try and buy!
