Construction is due to commence shortly on a new 13,300 sqm Costco Wholesale Warehouse at Broadland Business Park, Norwich, marking the retailer’s first site in East Anglia.

Costco is a US-based membership warehouse club operator, currently expanding its presence across the UK. The company offers a wide range of high-quality goods at competitive prices primarily aimed at serving the needs of the small to medium sized business community.

This new development is being constructed by R G Carter, a regional contractor with extensive experience delivering retail, warehouse and car park developments across Norfolk and East Anglia.

Positioned on Old Chapel Way, close to both the A47 and the Northern Distributor Road (NDR), this site has been selected for its accessibility, providing convenient access for potential members across Norwich and the wider East Anglia region.

Once complete, the site will house a large-format warehouse club, goods including groceries, electricals, clothing, homeware and leisure products including specialist facilities such as a bakery, butchery, food court, walk-in refrigeration areas, and dedicated sections for a wide range of food and non-food products primarily aimed at the business community.

The development will also provide a two-level car park with over 600 spaces and a tyre service facility, with a petrol filling station being delivered on land nearby.

Paul Landen, Construction Director – Europe, Costco Wholesale UK Ltd, said:

“We are pleased to be commencing construction on our first warehouse in East Anglia. The site at Broadland Business Park offers excellent access for our members and supports our continued expansion in the UK. We are also committed to working with experienced local partners wherever possible, and R G Carter’s strong presence in the region reflects that approach.”

Alex Mackay, Director and General Manager at R G Carter, said:

“As a business with strong local roots, we are pleased to be delivering this project in Norfolk. Our experience in the region and in the retail sector will support the efficient delivery of the scheme, and we look forward to working alongside Costco to create a high-quality warehouse environment for local businesses and members.”

The construction phase will support jobs through local contractors and suppliers, with the opening of Costco expected to create a minimum of 160 permanent roles, supporting the local economy and community.

The development is expected to complete in Spring 2027.
