At the Heckmondwike Bus Hub project, Gavin Smith, R G Carter Site Manager, identified an opportunity to reduce waste and support the local community.
Rather than disposing of a number of surplus plants at the end of the works, as the project nears completion, Gavin arranged for them to be donated to Rhys at Leeds University Technical College, where they could be put to good use.
The donation ensured that the plants unnecessarily wasted, while providing a valuable resource for the college, supporting its learning environment and outdoor spaces. This simple initiative demonstrates our commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and finding practical ways to create a positive local impact.
