At St Matthew’s Church in central Ipswich, our Building Solutions team are undertaking maintenance and refurbishment works to the historic bell tower of the Grade II listed medieval church, which dates from the 13th century.
Carter Design Group is supporting the project by providing temporary works design and technical input. They recently visited the church grounds to assess ground conditions, working constraints and loadings, and to advise on the safe design, positioning and erection of scaffold access for the project.
The scaffolding will aid the works on the bell tower’s parapet which requires maintenance due to deterioration caused by long‑term weather exposure. It will also be used for the installation of restored lead‑glazed windows, while protecting the historic fabric of the building.
