Princes Street Fire & Police Station

R G Carter are proud to have delivered this fantastic ‘blue light centre’, involving the refurbishment of the former Ipswich Fire Station located within the town centre, to create a state-of-the-art combined Police and Fire Station. The new joint station, serving the Ipswich area, boasting a range of green credentials.

The project involved the demolition of the existing fire appliance bay, which was rebuilt as a steel frame two storey block, with sleeping accommodation for the fire services as well as office space and ancillary areas on the first floor. The recent extension to the rear of the Fire Station was also demolished and rebuilt with traditional masonry to improve level access throughout the building.

The new extension contains new office accommodation and a locker room for Suffolk Constabulary. The smoke training building was refurbished to provide a more practical structure for the Fire Service to simulate rescue situations.

The external areas including the rear car parks was also improved and enhanced, including upgrading the biodiversity of the site.
