Travelodge, Lincoln

R G Carter delivered the design and construction of a new build five storey, 127-bedroom Travelodge hotel together with dedicated car parking, hard and soft landscaping, services and drainage connections. The building is mainly constructed from red and buff brickwork with recessed grey aluminum window frames.

The hotel, has 60 double bedrooms, 61 family rooms and six accessible rooms. Of these, 28 are ‘super rooms’ having enhanced finishes targeting business customers. The main entrance leads to the reception, breakfast area, cafe, bar and seating area, with a kitchen, office, storage and plant rooms on the ground floor.

The hotel was sold to the City of Lincoln Council during construction, providing a guaranteed revenue towards the Council’s public services’ expenditure, and is operated by Travelodge on a 25-year lease.

R G Carter’s design and delivery team prudently refined the build sequence and utilised a local tried and tested workforce to hand the building over two weeks early without compromising the building’s quality. This was welcomed by the tenant and landlord, Travelodge and the City of Lincoln Council respectively who were able to accommodate an earlier opening of the hotel.
