The Birches SEND facility at Saffron Walden County High School delivered by R G CarterThe Birches SEND facility at Saffron Walden County High School has officially opened. It marks a significant milestone for the school, Essex County Council and the wider project team.

The R G Carter team were delighted to attend the official opening of The Birches, the new £2.4 million Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) facility that they proudly delivered. Designed to support up to 40 pupils, The Birches SEND facility provides a purpose-built environment where students can access specialist support while remaining part of an inclusive mainstream school community.

Around 50 guests from Essex County Council, Saffron Academy Trust and the wider school community came together to celebrate the completion of the project. Together, they recognised the collaboration and commitment that helped bring the scheme to life.

The new building features four dedicated classrooms, group rooms and specialist learning spaces. Additionally, the design supports a range of individual learning needs. As a result, pupils can benefit from an environment that encourages learning, development and inclusion.

The event gave guests an opportunity to reflect on the successful delivery of the scheme. Furthermore, they could see first-hand the benefits the facility will bring to current and future students.

Chloe McGuire of R G Carter delivered a heartfelt speech and shared the journey from concept to completion. She also thanked everyone involved for their commitment, collaboration and support throughout the project.

R G Carter is proud to have delivered The Birches SEND facility. Moreover, the facility will provide a specialised learning environment that will have a lasting positive impact on pupils, staff and families for years to come.
