A striking new glazed frontage is taking shape at TK Maxx Longwater, as works continue on the new two-storey retail unit.
Working on behalf of R G Carter for client Bullen Group, Drayton Windows are completing the installation of the Schüco curtain walling system. The impressive full-height glazed façade spans approximately 12 metres and rises to almost eight metres.
The installation comprises 14 double-glazed glass panels alongside automatic entrance doors. Individual glass units measure up to 3.7 metres in height.
Due to the scale and weight of the glazing, the team used a crane fitted with specialist vacuum suction equipment. This allowed each panel to be carefully lifted and manoeuvred into position.
Schüco’s toggle fixing system secures the glass while minimising visible framing. This creates a clean, contemporary finish across the building’s frontage.
Once complete, the extensive glazing will maximise natural daylight throughout the new store. It will also create a striking architectural feature, contrasting with the grey façade and stone-clad entrance pillars.
The installation marks another significant step forward in the delivery of the new TK Maxx unit at Longwater. With the glazing now taking shape, the building’s distinctive new frontage is becoming a prominent feature of the development.
