The project involved the construction of the first Basepoint Business Centre in East Anglia, located on Ransomes Europark close to our Ipswich office in Suffolk.
Designed to appeal to both start up businesses and small to medium enterprises, the scheme provides 14 workshops and 30,000 ft² of office space within a three storey office building, all available on short and long term rent.
Although Basepoint already had over 15 centres throughout the South, the Ipswich centre was the first in East Anglia.
The new build office space has a structural steel frame on a piled foundation. Concrete floors with the external fabric formed from a combination of masonry and feature over-cladding together with glazing and entrance feature details.
The studio/workshops have a steel frame on piled foundations. The floors are suspended PCC supporting partial cover mezzanines in some units.
Mezzanine floors in workshops were value engineered to be part of the steel frame, in turn being more economic and quicker to install than the original timber joisted and decked floor.
These achievements were acknowledged by Ipswich Borough Council following a site tour, raising awareness of both what Basepoint have to offer the community and how R G Carter, as a reliable contractor, has assisted in achieving this, whilst also adding value to the project.
As a BREEAM rated project, the office block has a number of environmental features, including being partially powered by solar panels.
