We were delighted to be awarded the contract to construct this key building right in the heart of our Ipswich town centre, creating what has become a feature of the Suffolk landscape.
Built for Developer North West Estates, ‘Grafton House’ is a key part of the ‘Ipswich Village Development’ and the headquarters for Ipswich Borough Council, housing 500 staff.
The external works for the project included the creation of urban, mixed use streetscape.
- An insitu cast post tensioned concrete frame sits atop C.F.A. piled foundations with Precast brickwork spandrels and columns frame openings containing aluminium curtain walling, coupled timber windows, external rendering, timber and rain screen cladding.
- A wide variety of envelope finishes and treatment combine to create interesting facades.
- Aluminium louvers and stainless steel mesh mask escape stairs and roof top plant.
The project achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ by including mixed mode low velocity ventilation techniques and exposed soffits.
