Hunstanton
Introduction:
R G Carter undertook the extension of Hunstanton lifeboat station to facilitate the housing of their new Atlantic class lifeboat.
Details:
The work entailed extending the two storey boat house by 2.5m, providing a larger bay for the new lifeboat, an extended entrance and larger crew room on the first floor.
The extension project on the station could only go ahead after a huge sand dune was removed and then reinstated nearby.
Our Commitment:
Working with the Norfolk Biodiversity Partnership, the sand dune needed to be moved, involving the excavation of tonnes of sand. Utilising a geotech mesh to help keep the natural coastal protection in place, the sand was built up and the new dune topped with marram grass creating a new home for resident Natterjack toads.
